Actividade Científica: The scientific area is developped in
Fruticulture, including all the temperate fruit trees and small
fruits, with special attention to cherry culture: rootstocks,
varieties and fruit craking. Particularly in what concerns to
fruit maturation, harvest indices and post-harvest technology.
Master dissertation in fruit trees dormancy - development of
prediction model of the end of endodormancy and flowering date
of three cherry cultivars - ´Burlat´, ´Van´ e ´de Saco´- in
Gardunha (Cova da Beira).

In this domain the orchard intensification using dwarfing
rootstocks and new plant densities. Training and prunning fruit
trees, mainly cherry trees. Evaluation of leaf nutrients in
cherry and peach trees in Cova da Beira and its relation to
production and fruit quality.
Actuais interesses de investigação: The observation of
the influence of the orchard covers to prevent fruit cracking on
the maturation indices for different cherry varieties.
Evaluation of new cherry varieties quality in Cova da Beira,
Portugal. Evaluate the adaptation of new cultivars of
raspberries and blueberries to Cova da Beira.
Outras

integrated production and all it concerns with planting
thecnics, orchard management, fertilization, harvesting and
post-harvesting thecnics.
