Plant and Animal Sciences
(PAS): This group gathers researchers on Plant
Production as well as on Animal Production and aims the
improvement of knowledge on all subjects related to and
influencing the production of food, either plant or
animal products, in the context of Agriculture sensus
latum .
The object of research is the
biological system. In pursuing this goal, the group
intends to study quantitative and qualitative aspects
involving physiological and pathological factors that
can influence the efficiency of the biological systems
used in food production, as well as the relationship of
man with plant and animal resources and usages, in
absolute observance of public health requirements,
biodiversity, environmental restrictions and animal
well-being.
Within the PAS group there will be a
strong exchange of knowledge considering the bio-system
under study and the major scientific matters involved.
Taking advantage of its multidisciplinary feature, this
exchange will also be favored with the other CERNAS
groups, and with other national and international
research groups and institutions.
