Job summary:
The Research Centre for Natural Resources, Environment and
Society (CERNAS), hosted by the Politechnical Schools of
Agricultural Sciences of Coimbra and Castelo Branco, invites
applications for 1 research position in this sub-research field.
The post holder will join the CERNAS – NRC team, integrating
on-going and new projects in the Natural Resources Chemistry
area. The post holder will also have the opportunity to start
independent projects in the scope of this research line. The
post holder will be offered Centre´s common research facilities
and technical support. There are post-graduation teaching/advising
obligations up to 4 h/week. The applicant should include the CV,
reference and motivation letters for the position.
Job description
The contract for this position is for one year period minimum,
extendable to five years, and the gross annual salary will be of
approx. € 42,500. The candidates are asked to hold a PhD degree
in one of the following fields: Chemistry, Biochemistry,
Chemistry Engineering or Environmental Technology/ /Environmental
Policy, with at least three years of experience, and be fluent
in English.
The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the NRC
group at CERNAS through the development of research work namely
in energy/fuel production from alternative sources, and/or in
natural products valuation and characterization and/or in
pesticide residues detection. Experience in chromatographic
methods and in mass spectrometry will be valuable. The post
holder will be encouraged to prepare and submit independent
research projects in the area of this research line, aiming the
reinforcement of cooperative research with colleagues in the
group and with other national and international research teams.
The collaboration in teaching/advising post graduate courses/dissertations,
up to 4 h/week (MSc and PhD courses and dissertations) will also
be a commitment for the post holder.
