Actividade Científica: Atmospheric pollution, mainly in the
field of atmospheric chemistry (source apportionment and mass
balance). Field and laboratory experiments involving the
measurement of meteorological parameters and gaseous pollutants,
and also particulate matter sampling and analysis by means of:
High and low-volume samplers; Cascade and virtual impactors;
Gravimetric determination of particulate mass concentration;
Organic compound extraction and analysis by GC-MS; Analysis of
elemental and organic carbon by a thermal-optical method;
Extraction of water-soluble ions and analysis by ion
chromatography and spectrophotometric techniques.
Domínio de especialização: Source apportionment using
organic tracers measured by GC-MS Carbon mass balance using the
content in carbon and organic compounds Water-solubility of
organic aerosol, identification of novel organic compounds
playing having a potential role in cloud formation and climate.
Actuais interesses de investigação: Environmental
chemistry, both in air, water and soil pollution domains. Field
and laboratory experiments involving the measurement of criteria
pollutants. Modelling of mass fluxes between environmental
compartments.

aerosols on quartz fibre filters sampled at an urban site,
organized by the Vienna University of Technology, with the
